Artisans at the Dahmen Barn Displaying Carolyn Doe's Silk Paintings


Silk Paintings by artist Carolyn Doe go on display March 1

During the month of March at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown, silk batik paintings by Sandpoint, Idaho artist Carolyn Doe will be exhibited.  The opening reception will be on Saturday, March 2, from 1 to 3 pm.  Batik is the process of using wax and dyes to create designs on fabric. Carolyn travels and works in remote and beautiful areas of the world which inspires her artwork. 

Artisans at the Dahmen Barn is a non-profit creativity center at 419 N Parkway, Uniontown, Wash., in the big white barn surrounded by the famous iron wheel fence.  The facility is fully handicap accessible and has no daily admission fee.  Information:  www.artisanbarn.org or 509-229-3414.  Open Thursday through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm through February; 10 am to 6 pm beginning March 1.

Teen Librarian Chelsea Leachman Invites Grade 6-12 Students February 28, 13 For Crafts


       Teen Librarian Chelsea Leachman invites local teens to the Colton Library,760 Broadway Ave., on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at 4 p.m. for bottle cap and duct tape crafts.  This program is for youth in grades 6-12.  Teens can make several bottle cap and duct tape crafts including wallets, magnets, and bracelets.

        Keep in mind that February is Food for Fines month at all Whitman County Libraries.  Patrons are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items to erase up to $10 in library fines.  All donations go to your local food bank.
 

Two After-School Programs on Tap in February at Colton Librrary

      
Two after-school programs will be held at the Colton Library, 760 Broadway Ave.,  in the month of February. On February 14, 2013, children can make a Valentine hat for Valentine’s Day.
 
On February 21, 2013, Children can join their friends in playing Mario Kart, Just Dance, and other favorite wii games. Children in kindergarten to 6th grade are welcome to attend.
