Judi Gray Guest Presentation at Colton Library April 11, 2013

The Colton Library welcomes Judi Gray from Pullman Recycling and Waste Reduction to our special Second Thursday Program on April 11, 2013, at 3 p.m. She will teach us about waste free lunches and show us how to "upcycle" some old silverware into garden markers.  Kids in kindergarten through 6th grade are welcome to attend.

Donna Hansen will present a Lower Maintenance and Landscaping Workshop at the Colton Library on April 24, 2013, at 3 p.m.  Donna will explain how even the busiest people can still have a great-looking yard.  Donna will also present a program on Small Vegetable Gardens the same day at 12 p.m. at the Uniontown Library.  Bring a sack lunch and learn how to get the most out of even the smallest vegetable gardens.  These programs are being provided free of charge, thanks to funding from the Institute for Museums and Library Services grant entitled “Transforming Life after 50” which was recently awarded to the Whitman County Library.

The penny pig is out at the library to raise money for children’s programs.  If you have any spare change lying around that you would like to donate to this worthy cause, please bring it by during open hours on Monday from 10 – 2:30 or Thursday from 12:30 – 6:30.  The penny drive runs through April 20.

The Uniontown/Colton Book Club book for April is The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein.  Copies of this book are available at both libraries.  Discussion of the book will be held on April 25, 2013 at the Colton Library at 6 p.m.

Storytimes continue on Monday mornings at 10:30 a.m. at the Colton Library for ages 1-6.  The current theme is shapes, and a different shape is celebrated each week through crafts, stories and songs.

Garfiel Library's 2012 October Fun Events

From: Kelsey Gallegos
Date: 10-1-2012

Garfield Library has many fun events going on this October for you and yours!

The 14th Teen Librarian Chelsea will be in Garfield to do a Teen Crafternoon. The Crafternoon will teach teens how to make bottle cap necklaces. This event will begin at 4pm.

The 17th is a Craft Day for Kids and Teens. We will be making suction cup spiders! These googly-eyed creatures will hang wherever you place them, just like their arachnid brethren.

The 22nd Garfield Library will be hosting a Disaster Preparedness and Halloween Safety Tips Informational. The event begins at 4 and will last until closing time at 6:30. Patrons are not required to show up immediately at 4 or stay until 6:30. Information will be given to them upon request.

The 31st, Halloween, Garfield will be holding a SPOOK-tacular party for all ages. Trick-or-treaters are encouraged to come in and get candy. Potlach Family Dentistry has generously donated toothbrushes and toothpaste to go into our trick-or-treat goody bags! There will be other snacks, music, a game, and a fun bookmark craft for those who are interested. All Ghosts and Ghoulies will be entered into a drawing for a Prize Book!

Monday is Story Time in Garfield. Books, songs, and crafts will be provided for all children who participate! October’s theme is Spooky Creatures. We will learn about spiders, bats, raccoons, and other nocturnal or ‘spooky’ animals.

Remember to like us on facebook to keep up with events and learn more about what is going on in your town!
