Signs are up all around town in Rockford

 

Rockford Community Center Farmers Market starts on Saturday, June 1st in the Park with all the Vendors there.

We do a map around town for the different homes having garage sales and have  8 homes on the map now.  Maps are being printed and each location will have some.

Rockford Women's Club Meeting March 7, 2013

 Rockford Women's Club meeting, March 7, 2013, 7:00 p.m., Harvest Moon Restaurant, Rockford, Wash. Plans will be finalized to attend a play March 19, 2013, at the Civic Theater, Spokane, Wash.

Rockford Women's club meets at 7:00 p.m. every 1st and 3rd Tuesday, generally at the Harvest Moon except on special occassions, when they announce a change of meeting place. All local area women are invited to the meetings.

 

Rockford Historical Society and Museums Meeting February 8, 2013

Rockford Historical Society and Museums President, Betty Meyer, wishes to remind everyone first meeting of the year will be Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Harvest Moon Restaurant in Rockford. Plan on lunch followed by the meeting.

 

Projects to be discussed will be our yearly budget, and a contractor will be at the meeting to go over our building problems and hopefully provide a solution we can go forward with.

Chipping Day at Rockford Reminder -- May 19, 2012

Chipping day, May 19, 2012, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Local residential yard debris, such as limbs, leaves and green trimmings will be accepted at the site north of the Post Office, off Emma Street. Enter on the east side of the Fire Station.

A composting class will be held in the Town Hall on Emma Street on the same day, at 10:00 a.m.

Rockford, Washington 2012 Tree City USA Community

Rockford Named Tree City USA Community by the Arbor Day Foundation

The Arbor Day Foundation today announced that Rockford, WA, was named a Tree City USA community for its commitment to urban forestry.

It is the 1st year Rockford has earned this national honor from the Arbor Day Foundation, the nation’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to planting trees.

“We all benefit when communities like Rockford place a high priority on planting and caring for trees, one of our nation’s most beautiful resources,” said John Rosenow, chief executive and founder of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Trees shade our homes and add beauty to our neighborhoods, and they also provide many environmental, economic and social benefits. We applaud Rockford’s elected officials, volunteers and citizens for providing vital care for its urban forest.”

The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.

Rockford has met the four standards to become a Tree City USA community. Tree City USA communities must have a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, a community forestry program with annual expenditures of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

Communities that earn Tree City USA recognition not only have taken the time to meet the four standards, they know that trees:

• Promote healthier communities by filtering the air we breathe by removing dust and other particles.
• Moderate climate, conserve water and provide vital habitat for wildlife.
• Reduce the heat island effect in urban areas caused by pavement and buildings.
• Reduce energy use and increase property values.

Financial Management Workshop at Rockford Community Center

Rockford Community Center began its seminar series on Financial Management on Thursday evening, March 29^th. Its first session, Budget Planning, began with the “why” and “how” of budget making.

Workbooks, instructions, and inspiration were given to the attendees by certified Money Managers Vivian Plank and Mary-Lou Benson.

The next in the series will be “How to Get Your Credit Report On-Line” to be held on April 26^th at 6pm at the Rockford Community Center, 129 South 1^st Street in Rockford.  Anyone who is interested in attending is encouraged to call Vivian at 892-4412 or Mary-Lou at 291-3146 or e-mail Vivian at vplank@bannerbank.com or Mary-Lou at mlhbenson@gmail.com.  All are welcome.
