Mary Michaelson and Lou Lippman Concert June 25, 2012 at Colton, Wash.

Summer Reading is underway for all ages at the Colton Library. For children, Summer Reading is held on Mondays at 10:30 a.m., through July 16, 2012. The theme is Dream Big, Read!

Programs have a nighttime theme and will include a craft, stories, and a snack. On June 25, 2012, there will be a special music performance by Mary Michaelson and Lou Lippman. All ages are welcome to join us for traditional children’s songs. Children who read ten books or ten hours during the six-week program will receive a goody bag at the party during the last program.

Teens sign up for Summer Reading at the library or online at
www.whitco.lib.wa.us and earn a drawing entry for each hour read. Here’s your chance to win weekly countywide prizes and an iPod nano at the end of August.

Colton participants are also entered in a drawing for a $25 gift card of choice. Adults can be rewarded for Summer Reading as well. Participants must read three books before August 31, 2012 and write a brief review. Completers will be entered into a countywide drawing for a Kindle Touch and a local drawing for a $25 Safeway gift certificate.

A special program for teenagers is planned for June 28, 2012,  at 4 p.m. Join Teen Librarian Chelsea to explore the world of spies and solve mysteries. Teens assume a spy identity and complete three missions. Attendees earn an extra entry into the weekly Teen Summer Reading prize drawings.

This concert is funded by a Humanities Washington grant and supported by the Friends of the Library.
