Knowledge Bowl team brings home some hardware--places 5th at state tournament

The Garfield-Palouse High School knowledge bowl team competed March 23, 2013 at the state knowledge bowl meet in Arlington, Washington, placing 5th overall.

Wyatt Mitchell, Landen Morton, Gabe Cocking, Hunter Woltering and Kevin Knauff placed 6th overall after the first 5 rounds, which advanced them to the final two rounds for the championship.

In the 4-5-6 match, GarPal won a head-to-head playoff with ACH to take 5th overall, missing 4th place by one point.

The students played from 8:30 a.m. till 3:30 p.m., facing 50 written questions and 310 oral questions.  Overall, there were 102 teams from all classifications at the state meet, making it an exciting event to attend--and a long day.

Mr. Landle and Mr. Akin heartily thank all for their support--especially the local fire and police for their "cool" escort from town, Mr. Bofenkamp and Viking Crew for buying the kids a tournament T-shirt, Bev and Monty Nearing for the awesome snacks, Robin Woltering for the "goodie bags", and parents for sharing such great, smart kids!
