The Colton
Library welcomes Judi Gray from Pullman Recycling and Waste Reduction to our
special Second Thursday Program on April 11, 2013, at 3 p.m. She will teach us about
waste free lunches and show us how to "upcycle" some old silverware
into garden markers. Kids in
kindergarten through 6th grade are welcome to attend.
Donna Hansen will
present a Lower Maintenance and Landscaping Workshop at the Colton Library on
April 24, 2013, at 3 p.m. Donna will explain
how even the busiest people can still have a great-looking yard. Donna will also present a program on Small
Vegetable Gardens the same day at 12 p.m. at the Uniontown Library. Bring a sack lunch and learn how to get the
most out of even the smallest vegetable gardens. These programs are being provided free of
charge, thanks to funding from the Institute for Museums and Library Services
grant entitled “Transforming Life after 50” which was recently awarded to the
Whitman County Library.
The penny pig is
out at the library to raise money for children’s programs. If you have any spare change lying around
that you would like to donate to this worthy cause, please bring it by during
open hours on Monday from 10 – 2:30 or Thursday from 12:30 – 6:30. The penny drive runs through April 20.
The
Uniontown/Colton Book Club book for April is The Art of Racing in the Rain
by Garth Stein. Copies of this book are
available at both libraries. Discussion
of the book will be held on April 25, 2013 at the Colton Library at 6 p.m.
Storytimes continue
on Monday mornings at 10:30 a.m. at the Colton Library for ages 1-6. The current theme is shapes, and a different
shape is celebrated each week through crafts, stories and songs.
