February is Fantastic at Oakesdale Branch Library

February is Food for Fines month! If you have library fines from late movies or for any other reason, you can have up to $10 in fines waived with a donation of non-perishable food items, at Oakesdale Branch Library, 102 E. Steptoe, Oakesdale, Wash. This is a great time to get those library fines waived from your account and contribute food to a great cause.

The food collected here in Oakesdale is donated to the Tree of Sharing which helps out families having a difficult time during the holidays.

"This donation every year really helps out when we put together the food boxes, it helps us make sure every family gets a little something extra in their box!" Angy Dewan, Chairman of the Tree of Sharing committee said.
Food for Fines continues through out the entire month of February, so you still have plenty of time, come visit the library today.

Marie Fowler, a wonderful volunteer with SHIBA and the Council on Aging and Human Services will be in the library Wednesday, February 15, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. - noon.  Marie will be on hand to answer and assist with your medicare/medicaide questions.  Marie is here to offer free and unbiased assistance with your insurance needs.  Please mark your calendars and come in and visit with Marie.

If you have been wanting to learn how to down load e-books from the library onto your own electronic device, February 27, 2012 is your day to learn.  The Oakesdale library will be having a "down-loadable" workshop from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Bring  your device as well as a laptop if you have one, and a volunteer from the Colfax library will be here to take you through the process step by step.

Down loading books is easy to do and all the down loadable materials from the library are free.

Everyone is encouraged to attend this informative workshop.

A quick reminder that Storytime is held at the library every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. That means all you parents and care givers with children in pre-school and kindergarten are done with school in time to attend Storytime. Children will enjoy songs, snacks, crafts and of course stories in an environment that teaches a love for the library that can last a lifetime.

The Oakedale Library will be closed Monday, February 20, 2012 for Presidents Day.
